Frequently Asked Questions
Why is estate planning so important?
Not planning and leaving things to chance can cause unnecessary cost, delay, conflict, mental anguish for your family. You need to let people know what you want, and who should be in charge.
What are some of the roles of an attorney in estate planning?
An attorney works with clients in setting goals, developing documents to meet those goals, and have clients sign properly. The process includes a full review of a client’s assets as well as a full understanding of their family dynamics.
What is probate?
Probate is the process of getting property transferred to named beneficiaries or heirs at law. Property that is in a person’s sole name, without named beneficiaries on the account, must go through a court “probate” process to get to the rightful beneficiaries named in a Will, or if none, inheriting by law.
Do I have to pay in advance for my estate planning?
No. We will review costs during first meeting, and no payment is due until your estate documents are signed.
